I am both a digital and film photographer while I have been making photos for the 20 years, I am finally diving into the professional realm over the past year. My first love is film photography because it is an intimate art of science, knowledge, patience and luck. There is magic in making a photo without seeing it; and then performing the physical process of developing and opening the canister to see your images.
In addition to working as a photographer, I have worked in healthcare for over a decade. My healthcare experience has prepared me to remain calm in any kind of chaos. Which is surprisingly helpful with photography and especially the family photography realm.
For some time in my healthcare career, I visited homes though all age ranges; ultimately, a large majority of these visits included visits with seniors. I adore seeing time-capsule homes, patients surrounded with family portraits and photos. The physical insight to their family history carried so much weight and my patients always took great pleasure in telling me the stories of their past. These experiences impressed upon me the importance of photographs and memories in an incredibly intimate way.
In my spare time, I am an aerial artist and lover of the outdoors. I enjoy rafting, hiking, and exploring all Colorado has to offer. Oftentimes, you can find me lugging my big film cameras up a mountain or rowing them down the river.
Humans are beautiful, powerful and incredible; you are too. There is so much power in photography and capturing, not only the exciting moments in our lives, but the mundane and day-to-day moments as well.
Photographs can be reminders of presence or a time that you don't want to slip through your fingers. I want to capture the essence of you and your loved ones connecting with each other. Don't worry about the kids running around and playing, don't worry about the mess; let's create something just as you are.
The simple things in life and fleeting moments deserve to be captured.
